A Curse Returned - Himawari
Who: Kunogi Himawari (xxxHolic)
What: On
salkia_island Kurosaki Ichigo wished during the Wish Upon A Star Event that Himawari didn’t have such a curse. For once in her life she spent nearly two weeks lighter, curse free. This was the return, the end of the event, the curse coming back.
When: Evening, last day of Wishing Event.
Where: Salkia Island RPG
Rating: PG - Unedited.
She had just came back to her room for the evening, sitting her tea on a table near her bed, playing with Tanpopo for a bit and generally just getting undressed and ready for bed. It was nearly midnight and she was still awake. The last few days had been a mix of good and bad. Her friends were all going through pains of the heart and mind and she was… feeling light hearted and clean souled. It was a feeling she had hoped would last forever.
It wouldn’t however. The islands event effects rarely stuck around and she knew that.
Having hit midnight on the last day, she felt it, like a heavy slap to the chest, aching and dragging her down all at once. With a sudden gasp she reached up to her shirt, to her chest, holding it, and folded over at the end of her bed. Eyes wide she tried to logically think of what just happened.
It was like heart ache, a burning, and a huge weight all at once dropping into her chest and mind. It felt hard to breath for a moment. Turning she plopped down on the end of her bed, hand over her heart and just feeling so very heavy again.
“No…” the word pushed form her lips on a whisper and then with a small shudder she gave a very soft whine, falling backwards on the bed. To her it felt like she weighted a ton again, falling back hard on the bed, as if she sunk into it. She didn’t as she only weighted a little bit, as normal, but in her mind she sank deeply into the bed, her room, the world once again.
Sliding her hand to her face she let it roll over her parted mouth, over her nose, and covering her eyes again. Her lips curved up into a smile, her hand covering the tears that welled up again. The curse had come back, returning to it’s natural heavy state in her body, something she had never noticed to be so heavy before. When Ichigo had wished it away it felt so light, so warm. It felt so nice to be free of it that she had forgotten just how heavy a burden it felt.
Rubbing her hands over her eyes to dry them, she shifted, turned and crawled up into her bed more, curling up on her side and chuckling. Her chuckle turned to a laugh, a laugh through her smile. It had been too good to be true, and to true to be good.
Be careful; she’d have to be careful again. Return to distancing herself and not touching. No more hugs again, and relying solely on Doumeki once more. To inconvenience her friend once again and lose what little independence she felt she had.
She laughed though… because it was nice while it lasted and something she wouldn’t easily let herself forget. The kindles of one person to give away such a wish. To wish for something that wouldn’t last like other things. He could have wished for things that would have helped him. Helped with his issues while he had them. Instead he wasted it on her for a weeks break of a curse.
It hurt, but not in a bad way. More in that way that was confusing to her. She wished he hadn’t of wished for such a wish. And yet she was glad he did. It was nice to feel light for a moment. It was nice to be able to be… normal, for a moment.
Tomorrow, she’d have to let him know. Both of her friends know that she was back to ‘normal’ so they could all be careful again. But that would wait until tomorrow. Tonight she just wanted to lay here and close off again, remind herself how things should be. No more hugs, no more contact again. She felt her eyes burn, tears again.
Curling up more she laughed, hiding her face, her little bird falling to her shoulder, trying to snuggle her. No, not no more contact. Just less. Some things stayed the same, didn’t they? Her fingers reached up to pet and love the little bird, smiling to it.
She had been able to do it for all this time before. She could do it again.
